Your Emergency Dentist in Plano Reminds You to be Prepared!

November 16, 2016

Your emergency dentist in Plano reminds you to be prepared! When you encounter a dental emergency, you can count on two things: it won’t be convenient, and it’ll likely feel stressful and overwhelming. The first thing to do is not to panic! Your trusted team at Parkway Vista Dental is here for you, and with the right people on your side, you can rest assured that everything will be all right. Your emergency dentist in Plano reminds you to be prepared, because once you understand how to handle an emergency situation, it won’t feel as overwhelming.

A Tooth That’s Been Knocked Out

For a tooth that has been knocked out, time is of the essence. We have the best chance of preserving your tooth if we can treat it within one hour of your injury or accident. Handle your tooth as little as possible. Try to replace it back into your socket, if that doesn’t work, transport it in a cup of milk in order to keep the cells moist and alive. Contact Parkway Vista Dental immediately to be seen.

Dental Infection

A tooth that’s been decayed or injured within the root, may develop an infection. Dental infections can cause severe pain, and they won’t go away on their own. Again, this is a time to be proactive and contact us right away. Infections will only get worse, cause more pain, and could potentially travel to other areas of the body, or cause tooth loss. A root canal may be able to preserve your tooth, by removing the infected tissue, and allowing your tooth time to heal.

Soft Tissue Injuries

For gums, cheeks, or lips that have been injured, the first step is to stop the bleeding. You can do that with a cold compress and light pressure. If you have access, warm salt-water rinses are also soothing for soft tissue injuries. Once the bleeding is contained, give us a call for further instruction.

Dr. Bita Kamali has been providing high quality dentistry to patients at Parkway Vista Dental for over a decade. She’s also your Aetna dentist in Plano, and welcomes new and emergency patients to our practice. If you or a loved one is experiencing a dental emergency, we’re here for you, and you can rest assured that you’re in good hands when you choose Parkway Vista Dental for your care. Please contact our office right away to be seen.
